Monday Night Raw
Las Vegas, Nevada
08/18/2014

Just a mere twenty-four hours ago, Austin had made his return. It had been a long five and a half months and he was more than excited to get back on the road and most importantly, back in a WWE ring. No one was expecting his return and when he made it backstage, he had a warm reception from his friends and colleagues, as well as one when he made it to the arena earlier today. The tattooed former champion casually walked around the backstage area in a tank top, short Adidas workout shorts and a pair of flip-flops. Surely he’d make an outfit change, but for what he was about to do, he was dressed more than appropriately.  Along other celebrities, Mr. and Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and even Kurt Angle, Austin was more than enthused to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

After a quick stop to the trainer’s office for a bag of ice, Austin was headed outside to meet up with Renee Young as well as a few cameramen who’d have the occasion up as a WWE Exclusive which would be which would be available on the WWE for a low price.

“Ladies and gentlemen joining me at this time to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge- Austin Blake.”

“Hey there, long time no see.” Austin grinned with his hands on his waist.

“Now Austin in a few short moments, you’ll be accepting this challenge, which is for a great cause!”

“Absolutely, I’ve already donated and I encourage everyone else to do so. After seeing Mr. McMahon do this challenge in a suit nonetheless, I really had to do this. Before I proceed, I’d like to personally challenge all of the champions of the WWE, including the NXT branch, Slayde Saxton, Leon London, and Karlos Charisma.”

“That’s a lot of people there!”

“Just raising awareness for a really good cause. Okay,” Austin sighed as he turned his attention to one of the biggest buckets he could find, filled to the top with ice water. “Luckily, we’re in Vegas.” He laughed and proceeded to dump the bucket over his head.

“It’s very refreshing.”

As Raw continued, the Vegas crowd was still buzzing from Summer Slam.  Everyone on the card had brought their working boots as it was one of the best PPV’s of the year. There was huge speculation that a World title would be presented, but in the meantime, everyone would just have to wait.  For now, the fans watched on as the office of Triple H showed on the titantron. To the COO’s right was Kane and to the left was a complaining Seth Rollins. “How could you let that happen last night? I was so close to becoming the new World Champion. When I became Mr. Money in the Bank, I was guaranteed to become champion. How am I supposed to be the face of this company if every time I go to cash in, someone gets in the way?” The two-toned haired man barked, not letting Triple H get a word in. “What hole did Austin Blake crawl out of? He was supposed to be out until next year and now he’s sticking his nose in my business.”

Triple H lowered his hand and took a deep breath. He was a busy man and getting his ear chewed out by Seth was the last thing that he needed. “Seth, I need you to relax okay?”
“How can I relax? I have Dean Ambrose on my back, did you see what he did to me and now Blake is in the fray.”

Once again, the COO took a deep breath. “Just relax, tonight you get another match with Ambrose to finish him once and for all, as for Austin Blake, I have something for him.” Austin must have heard his name, as the man in speaking entered the room to a mixed reaction.

“Who do you think you are huh? Do you know who you’re dealing with? How dare you! How dare you interfere with me becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion?” Seth snapped and Austin didn’t even budge.

“First of all, I’m Austin Blake, former tag team champion, a guy who you helped triple powerbomb, the third longest Intercontinental Champion, the guy who won Money in the Bank before you, who might I add, would be World Champion right now if I didn’t have my little mishap. Most importantly, I am the guy who prevented you from claiming what’s rightfully mine. So how dare you Seth for trying to claim my spot. How dare you have your hair like that and how dare you for impersonating Batman!”

“Oh you’re asking for it now!” Seth bawled up his fist and went to strike Austin. He would have done so, if not for Triple H and Kane holding him back.

“Seth! I said calm down. Just focus on Dean Ambrose, as for you Austin,” the man perked up. “You have a match tonight.”

“Oh goody Mr. Game, who do I get to play against?” Austin clapped his hands and feigned excitement.

“Tonight, you’re going one on one with one of the men who put you on the shelf. You’re facing Nolan Carr!”

“Best thing I’ve heard all night, later Mr. Game.” Austin grinned and turned to take his leave. “Before I go, Seth, you wear more tight leather than a dominatrix.”
-
It was his first match since February and he was struggling to out of the box. Even though he wasn’t exactly considered rusty, Nolan was stronger than he last remembered. Austin was in a precarious position on the ring apron as Nolan looked to suplex the man into the ring. Whenever Nolan would lift him up, Austin would kick his feet and hold on to the top rope. The big Brit had placed Austin back down on the apron and went to hit him with a hard right hand, but Austin blocked it and met the man with a rope assisted Gamengiri.

“What a kick by Austin, guys that could be what he needs to get going. We questioned how well his leg will be in this match. Would that torn Achilles be a factor and so far the answer is no.” Cole observed.

“Yeah after Nolan Carr would dive out on him, Austin would have a dive of his own!” King chimed just for JBL to put in his two cents.

“He’s looking good now, but it could all be a ploy. He’s back eight months early, there is no way that he’s one-hundred percent.” JBL barked as Austin bounced Nolan’s head off the turnbuckle. It had rung Nolan’s bell backing him away allowing Austin to climb up to the top rope. “I’m telling you, he’s doing all of this high-risk stuff to make us believe he’s fine.” With a decent amount of hang time, Austin jumped into the air for a cross body. It seemed that Austin would be successful as he made contact with Nolan, but the big man had caught him with ease. “That is God given strength right there. You can’t teach that.”

A grin crossed Nolan’s face as he began to do bicep curls with Austin. “That is a two-hundred and five pound man, and Nolan is using him as a weight.” Cole was in disbelief. After doing a few reps with his opponent, Nolan tossed Austin up on his shoulders in the fireman’s carry position. “Do you think Nolan is taking Austin lightly? We’ve seen what happens when he underestimates an opponent.”

“When you’re that big, you can do what you want. He knows what Austin is capable of, that is one man who Nolan Carr does not underestimate.”  Nolan swung Austin around for a TKO, but Austin would slip out the back door. As Nolan spun around, Austin had super kicked the man in the knee, dropping him down to size. “That’s a good way to blow out a knee,” JBL pointed out and Austin wasn’t done, roundhouse kicking Nolan in the head. “Call a fat lady and tell he ta start ah singin!”

“Did you hear those kicks? This could be it, 2 and a kick out by Nolan. Austin cannot believe it.” Austin slapped his hand on the mat and looked all around him. The crowd was right where he wanted them. He may have been gone for a while, but he had more than enough in the tank to deliver.

Before Nolan could even make it up to his feet, Austin was unloading with hard left hands to the face, with a few stomps. “Usually we see Austin flying around the ring, but this match he’s focused more on brawling and strikes. I see more of a mean streak here.” King said as Austin began to choke the big man with his kickpad cover sneaker. At four, Austin broke the hold, and proceeded to stomp all over Nolan. “He’s against the man who put him on the shelf, why wouldn’t he be more focused and vicious?” JBL barked.

Backing away, Austin let Nolan make it to a knees before drilling him face first with a grounded flatliner. Quickly, he had gone for the cover, hooking the inside leg. “1...2,” Nolan had kicked out, and Austin was on him unloading with closed fists. Before he could be disqualified, Austin backed away lifting up his arms in a display of dominance.

Nolan had now made it to his feet and grabbed a hold of Austin. Austin tried to break the grasp of the big man, but he knew better as he was whipped towards the far corner. The tattooed man had braced himself and jumped off the turnbuckle for a moonsault, again being caught by Nolan, but this time in the form of a tombstone piledriver. “What a counter by Nolan Carr! That has to be it!” It wasn’t. Before the count of three, Austin had placed his foot on the bottom rope.

“Are you kidding me? What will it take to put Austin away? First we thought Nolan had him earlier with that top rope powerbomb, but now this piledriver? I’m sure Nolan is asking himself, what does he have to do?”

Nolan let out a grunt and pulled Austin up by his hair. He was growing impatient with Mr. Blake who was giving him his best stuff to match what Nolan was dishing out.  With ease, Nolan had tossed Austin across the ring and began to close in. “Guys, look at Austin, he’s grabbing that injured leg. This isn’t good. Maybe you’re right JBL, maybe he did comeback too early.”

“Of course I’m right.” The Texan scoffed, referee Charles Robinson by Austin’s side, backing Nolan away who had lowered his guard.

Once Austin noticed, he extended his hand to Nolan who foolishly accepted, being pulled into an inside cradle.

“Look at that, Austin got him! Austin got him. Austin just stole one from under the nose of Nolan!” At the sound of the bell, and ‘Prayer of the Refugee,” Austin had quickly ducked out of the ring with a shrug and laugh. “How opportunistic to play off his injury and Nolan Carr can’t help but laugh at himself.

“These two traveled with each other and know one another well, it all just came to Austin having to pull one over on his former bodyguard.”

With the first match under his belt, Austin was ready to start building up some momentum and hopefully getting himself back in the title picture. He had all the tools and he’d be back on top in no time.
In his first night back, Austin has managed to raise some more hell and stick it to Seth once again. Even though I'm planning on keeping him as heel, like I said yesterday I see him sticking it to the authority and just being in business for himself, and doing what he wants. He's going to have some fun here and there like only he could outside of the ring, while still bringing a serious threat inside of it.

It seems like just about everyone is taking part in the Ice Bucket Challenge - I have, as well - and I'm glad to see that Austin has done the same. You can pretty much rationalize that he would do this on WWE television, especially when considering that he is going to be a fan favorite based on the reactions of the audience. In any event, I thought that it was a classy move for him to take part in and, to be honest, he took having a bucket of ice cold water and cubes dumped on his head better than most. XD I loved it. The segment with the Authority was a lot of fun, between the frantic nature of Rollins and the "I'm so fucking done" attitude of Triple H. And I loved Blake's interaction here, especially when you consider how much he had to deal with thanks to the Shield. The guy did get powerbombed, after all, so why not foil the plans of an individual who gave you so much grief? That's the nature of pro wrestling, man. "Mr. Game" and "You wear more tight leather than a dominatrix?" Ah, Mr. Blake, I missed your sass, haha. As someone who read the efforts of the team known as Austin and Nolan, I was curious to see how their singles match would go. At first, it went about the same as I expected, with the out-of-practice Austin having quite the challenge dealt to him by Nolan, one of the shining examples being Nolan catching Austin's cross body. However, seeing Austin fight back and literally kick the match into his favor was great to see and it showed just how much more he had to fight. And how Austin-like is it of him to feign the injury, only to catch Nolan with the roll-up in order to secure the victory? He's smart, man, and you can't blame Nolan for chuckling. It was a crafty way to pull out the victory but you can probably imagine that the Authority isn't very happy about this development. Vickie, nicely done, as always. Keep up the great work!
